Departure and Arrival

We can’t travel at the moment, so of course, I’m dreaming of when we can travel again. Here’s a little story snippet that I’ve imagined. Enjoy indulging in some escapism with me.

My heart was beating a little faster than usual as I tugged my hand luggage case behind me, and squinted at the information boards. Airports always made me a little anxious, but this trip was one to be excited about.

It had been five years since I’d seen my cousins and now was the moment that I must grasp with both hands. I was finally on my way for a girls’ weekend in Milan. The chest pains and sleepless nights that came with working in the top editorial department for Forbes magazine were beginning to take their toll. Boy, did I need this break?

The bright lights of the restaurants and duty-free stores sung joy to me, and I embraced my first chance of retail therapy before queuing up at the departure gate.

The city glistens in the dark as the plane flew higher and higher. Taking a deep breath, I smiled as I looked at the city below.

“So good to finally get some perspective.” I thought.
