The King’s Curse

After years of searching, the King had finally found the magic wand that would ultimately change his entire life. The wand would give him everything he had ever dreamed of.

“I’ve finally got my hands on it!” he bellowed from a high castle window. Melodic chimes of glockenspiel floated through the air as the king shook the wand in the air. A lavish pool appeared before the King’s eyes. The still water glistened with golden streaks as the sun shone with warm rays. Dipping his finger in the middle of the pool, his mouth fell open with amazement and at first, he was speechless.

“The pool is tremendous! The water is instantly turning into liquid gold!” The magic had worked marvelously and he was about to become the wealthiest, most extravagant King in the world. Almost unexpectedly a wave of recklessness enveloped the King and he felt excitement bubble inside of him. Fearlessly the King took a run and a hefty jump into the pool of gold. At that moment, Princess Bernice came looking for her beloved father, and she found him swimming in the majestic pool. Seeing her father splashing in the weighty golden water her heart stopped beating and she gasped in panic, as her father was drowning.

“Father, father! I’ll try to save you!”  The princess grappled with a heavy rope and tossed it into the pool, only to hear her father shout,

“Don’t worry, I’ll happily swim in this gold for the rest of my life.”
