The Frozen Lake

I took a glance into the ice,

My reflection glimmered back,

How did I end up here?

When did I roll the lucky dice?

A watery outline of my body was all that the lake could reveal,

The faceless shape was the one I knew most,

I stand in these tranquil surroundings and breathe in the cool, cool stillness.

The chirping sound of a chilly robin floats to my ears;

I feel I’m no longer alone.

In the quiet, I ponder and wonder, what would become of my hopes and dreams.

They stand before me,

Like a hand in front of my face,

Only time could tell if I’d find my place,

In this big ocean of adventure.

This country might be frozen,

But my cup bubbles over, defrosting memories and plans,

I stand on the edge of the world and gaze at my reflection.
