The mermaids danced in the cavern under the sea. Their tails were coloured like rainbows. The party had just begun and the night was brazen with excitement. Music pulsed through the water making a gentle ripple. Suddenly, the clock struck twelve and terror began to seep through the group as the ground shook, upturning the wine glasses and the sea darkened. The mermaids trembled with fear at the sight of the menacing monster that beheld them. It was a pitch-black inky shape that was absolutely humongous. It was Mendal the evil sea Ogre.
“She’s going to destroy us!” the lilac mermaid cried.
“Run!” cried another, but it was too late. Some mermaids started to dig in the sand. They were attempting to dig a tunnel that would lead them to an escape, but with an evil laugh, the powerful Mendal shifted the sandy ground and tipped the sea bed up into the mermaid’s eyes.
“We need a hero!” The mermaids screamed as the dreadful ogre stretched out her fat arm and reached out to grab the beautiful helpless sea creatures.
“Hold it!” a voice echoed through the chaos. The saviour had come, just at the last moment.
Mendal spun around to face her adversary only to see an animal even greater than herself. The great seahorse towered above her yielding a weapon.
“Begone Mendal, release these mermaids and return to the darkness where you belong!”
The battle had barely begun when Mendal cowered back to the underworld and peace returned to the ocean deep.
