As my finger traced the rim of the glass, the ringing in my ears heightened with an intensity that could make a cat wince. Bodies shuffled around me, and the stench of cheap cologne invaded my nostrils. He let out a hearty laugh and I couldn’t help glaring across the room into his territory.
“Give me a break. Why does he always need to be the centre of attention?”
I must resist the urge to impress him. I’ve moved on, and good riddance. Ha, even I couldn’t believe my own lie. My heart skipped a beat and my head jerked as I let out a high pitched, innately feminine shriek. The shattering of glass brought me back into the crowded bar- back to the problem at hand. The gin was everywhere and I needed to do something about it.
