Unrecognisable (200)

“Weird.” I scratched my head puzzled, then felt it. My head felt like it had been hit with a brick. Gosh, I hadn’t had a headache like that since my old college days. I reached over to my pillow to find my phone, which yes, I admit I’m too attached to. The speed of my searching increased as I still couldn’t feel the familiar screen. My heavy eyes opened properly and I blinked. My heart stopped as I took in my surroundings. “Where the hell am I?” I couldn’t help but exclaim aloud.

The rug was tattered, a shadow of the intricate design and grandeur that it once knew. Curiosity took over and I found myself leaning over to look inside the drawer of the dark wooden bedside cabinet. Damn, it was locked. The floorboards creaked as I got up and threw on a hoodie and I began my internal exploration. I made it out to the landing before something gripped my attention. Handwritten letters, sealed with wax lay strewn across the red velvety carpet. “I get the impression I probably shouldn’t be here.”
